The preadolescent Amanda has just moved in with her mother, Sônia, to her grandmother’s home when the property is robbed. All three come out alive, but Amanda is left with a wound on her face. While Amanda is being ridiculed for her appearance, both the street and the house become hostile environments for her. Lucinda, the grandmother, gradually loses her autonomy while Sonia builds a fortress inside the house. When Amanda decides to confront her injury, she and her family undergo a healing process from her physical and emotional wounds.
